What PillBox is

What PillBox does and what it doesn't — including resolving a dose Take/Skip straight from your lock screen.

PillBox helps you remember to take your medications and keeps a log of what you've taken.

The big idea: you can mark a dose Take or Skip straight from your lock screen — without unlocking your phone or opening the app.

Why PillBox?

PillBox was born out of a very specific, frustrating loop: the ADHD executive functioning gap.

For those of us who rely on medication to help with executive functioning, there is a cruel irony: remembering to take that medication is itself an act of executive functioning. If you forget the pill, you don't have the mental tools to remember the pill.

I tried everything. Standard alarms were too disruptive; I'd mute them instantly, think "I'll do it in a second," and then get distracted by a glass of water or a passing thought, and the dose was gone. Health apps were great for tracking, but the "friction" was too high. Unlocking a phone, navigating menus, and logging a dose is simply too many steps when your brain is already fighting for focus. Even "critical reminders" eventually became background noise.

I needed a way to close the loop. I needed a system that provided: - Zero-friction logging: The ability to mark a dose as "Taken" or "Skipped" directly from the lock screen, without ever unlocking the phone. - Persistent, trustworthy nudges: Reminders that don't just fire once and vanish, but keep you on track until the task is actually done, giving you the confidence that you haven't simply forgotten. - Fine-tuned control: Because persistent reminders can become annoying, the ability to customize sounds and regularity is essential to find the "sweet spot" between a helpful nudge and a nuisance.

What started as a tool for ADHD executive functioning evolved into something broader. By talking to others, PillBox expanded to support as-needed (PRN) medications and multiple profiles, making it just as useful for tracking a child's medicine, a pet's supplements, or even non-medical repetitive tasks.

What PillBox does NOT do

  • No ads.
  • Nothing leaves your phone. All your data stays on your device. There is no account, no sign-in, and no cloud. PillBox works fully offline — even the built-in Australian medicines search (PBS) runs against a copy of the data shipped inside the app, so your searches never touch the internet.
  • It can't see your files unless you choose one to import yourself.
  • No microphone, camera, location, or contacts. PillBox doesn't use any of these.
  • Nothing about you is collected or shared. Your medication information stays private, on your device only.

PillBox is not medical advice

PillBox is a reminder and logging tool. It is not a doctor or a pharmacist. Always follow the advice of your doctor or pharmacist about your medications, doses, and timing.

The same goes for the built-in medicine data — it's reference information about products, not guidance about you. See What the medicine data can — and can't — tell you.
